“Demons and goddess shit should be left to the Chosen One. I was just the Tired One, so I’d leave it at that.”

Cinnamon, my gorgeous, relatable goddess—I love you.
This book was so so good!! Fun is the word I would use to describe this book. From page one, the plot was moving and for the life of me, I couldn’t look away. I was enthralled with Cinnamon and Fallon, eagerly waiting for them to fall into the sticky mess called love. To tell the truth, I picked this novel up because I want to read a bunch of monster romances and spooky books during October, and this was on Prime Reading (and it’s on KU) and I said “why not,” and my expectations for this book wasn’t high. But YOU GUYS!!! My socks shot straight off!!! This blew me out of the water, and I loved every.single.moment.
First off, Fallon has long hair…… ππ»ππ₯
SECOND! He’s a hot demon who protects his girl with all his mighty demon-y self.
THIRDLY!!!!!! He was giving me major Dongfang Qingcang vibes, which is….. π₯΅
“A hand slid around my waist and pulled me closer to him, our faces almost touching. “Until the last phylactery is destroyed, you are mine.” He growled low in his throat. “I will dispose of anyone who impedes that.””
“He brought his free hand up to his lips, made a tunnel, and shot blue flames all over the wood.”
“A small smile graced his lips. “Every scratch,” he whispered, his tone gentle and comforting. “Every bruise, I will pay back in fire and blood.””
Fallon makes me want to go out and hunt for hot demons who will tear off a man's arm or kill for me because the witless worm of a man hurt me, and now I will settle for nothing less!! π€
Anyway, Fallon is a hot-ass demon boy who embarks on a quest with our wine-drinking, cheese-loving FMC who doesn’t want to be the chosen one and just wants to chill and day drink with her bestie and spend time with her family. Yet, instead of being whiny the entire time about how much she doesn’t want to be a “hero” or a “chosen one” she goes, and finds friends, more demon shenanigans, horny feelings, and discovers a bit of herself and faces the dark shadow that has been looming over her since her sister died. So suffice to say, there’s not just monster fucking. π«£
But hey, the smut? Top tier! No cringy language. And it didn't give any bad Wattpad smut flashbacks. So, overall? It was superb, and the slow-ish burn made it even more delicious. π€π
Besides the sexy demons and awesome FMC who is a badass in her own right, I had a really great time reading this and I am going to be checking out the second book in Mead Mishaps that follows a cute Werewolf boy and Cinnamon's bestie, Brie.
Bonus:
“A rough hand lifted my chin and turned my face to the side. He gazed at the reddening bruise on my cheek and frowned.
So who did this, then?””
*proceeds to scream in oblivion at the who-did-this-to-you trope*
